Discover how these monastery's looked like, how the monks lived & how the monks interacted with the local population. You will visit the holy sites that were responsible for evangelising Europe & the rest of the world. Join me on this journey that has never been done before. This tour involves walking around ancient monastic sites, you will need to be mobile enough to walk through Irish fields.
As the tour is in February in Ireland, there's a chance it will rain, So its essential you bring wet gear. (Wellington boots, waterproof clothing etc). You can check into the hotel on Friday the 16/2/23 for an additional fee. (Check the price table below)
The tour will commence on Saturday 17/2/23 at 9am. Pick up will be from the hotel (You will be given the hotel location later)
Maximum of 15 people on the tour. 15 tickets available.

This is a typical itinerary.
Stop At: Grianán of Aileach, Burt, Co. Donegal
The Stone Fort of Grianán of Aileach sits on a hilltop in Inishowen County Donegal. 250m above sea level, the stone fort was probably first built on an earthen rath.
The view from Aileach is breathtaking. The glistening waters of Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly are clear, as is the form of the entire peninsula. A windy and exposed place, Grianán has been a silent witness to the history of Ireland.

Stop At: Raymoghy Ancient Church, Raymoghey Heights, Letterkenny Ireland
Travellers will be guided at Raymoghy Ancient Church. Walk in the footsteps of Saint Patrick. Documentary sources indicate that St. Patrick brought Christianity to the area and founded the abbey in the late 5th century. Brugach was consecrated the first bishop of the Abbey and a line of his successors continued at Raymochy until at least 731AD.

Stop At: St Eunan's Cathedral, Raphoe Ireland
Travellers will be guided in one of Ireland's first monastic settlements. Saint Colmcille founded a monastic settlement on this site in the sixth century which was further developed by St. Eunan (627-704), the patron Saint of Raphoe. Travellers will also get a tour through the historic town of Raphoe & see Raphoe castle from the road as it is not accessible on foot.

Stop At: Beltany Stone Circle, Raphoe Ireland
Travellers will visit one of Ireland's most impressive stone circles. Beltany Stone circle was used as a boundary marker to define the dioceses border.

Stop At: St Patricks Ancient Church, N15, Castlefinn Ireland
Travellers will be guided through one of Irelands oldest Church's founded by Saint Patrick. A church of Ireland is now situated on the original site where Saint Patrick founded the Church.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop at: Resultant for lunch. Travellers will have lunch at a lovely local Restaurant.

Stop At: St. Brigid's Well, Cormakilly, Castlefinn Ireland
You will be guided to a beautiful holy well that Saint Brigid Blessed in the 5th century. Walk in the footsteps of Irelands patron Saint - Saint Brigid. Drink water from the fresh spring. Take some holy water home with you. The well is known to have many cures & healing properties.

Stop At: Ogham Stone Castlefinn, Magherareagh, Castlefinn Ireland
Travellers will visit the recently discovered ogham stone outside Castlefinn Co. Donegal. This is the only Ogham Stone in Donegal with the ancient Irish alphabet writing Ogham inscribed on the Stone. Ogham is an Early Medieval alphabet used primarily to write the early Irish language, and later the Old Irish language.

Stop At: Churchtown, Co. Donegal, Ireland
Travellers will be guided through Ballybogan Ancient Church. Dating back to the 6th Century. This church was known as the house of protection. Possibly giving refuge to travellers who were travelling to Inishowen.

Stop At: Lifford Old Courthouse, Old Courthouse The Diamond The Diamond, Lifford F93 CD6F Ireland
Travellers will receive a guided a tour by a member of staff of the courthouse (One hour). Lifford Old Courthouse is a historic courthouse situated in the centre of Lifford, County Donegal, in the Northwest of Ireland. The building was designed by local architect Michael Priestley and built in 1746 in order to enable a circuit assizes judge to visit the county. The Courthouse also incorporated ‘The County Gaol’ in the basement which was to last as a place of confinement for debtors, felons and eventually those deemed to be ‘lunatics’, until a new jail was completed next to the courthouse in 1793. This large jail allowed more prisoners to be processed in the town before being demolished in 1907. The Courthouse itself, however, continued to hold trials until 1938.
