Youngsters knocked to ground and beaten by gang of up to 15 who demanded phones in Laytown, Meath

Three youngsters were attacked and knocked to the ground by a gang of thug youths who tried to take their phones

The three young teens were approached by the gang of up to 15 near Beach Grove in Laytown on Monday evening.

Two of the victims were knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries before the gang ran away towards the local train station.

Luckily the trio managed to hold on to all of their valuables.

Gardai in Laytown have appealed for information and asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Laytown are investigating an assault incident which occurred at Beach Grove on Monday afternoon.

"At 4pm a group of 10-15 youths approached three young persons and demanded their mobile phones and subsequently assaulted two of them by knocking them to the ground and kicking them. The victims suffered minor injuries.

"No property was stolen. The group of offenders then ran towards Laytown railway station."
